Lorien Howe

I'm Lorien Howe, the creator and curator of this website.

This endeavor is the final step in my journey towards the M.A. degree in Media and Public Engagement from the University of Colorado, Boulder. I entered this degree program to gain the skills to become an informed producer, enabling me to create platforms for marginalized populations whose voices might otherwise go unheard.

I've chosen to focus on refugees, since they are often in the news as an "issue", but often overlooked as real people. Borne of my own curiosity, this project seeks to gain insight into the everyday lives of refugees. I wanted to know what makes them unique, what their journeys have been like, the challenges they face, and the joys they experience. More than how they might be different from me, I wanted to see how much we are the same.
